Emerald Golf Club is one of the prettiest and perhaps underrated golf courses in the Pattaya area hidden away in the forest and mountains close to Rayong also offering some wonderful holes designed by two golfing greats. The course is in in the process of being sold so the upkeep is inconsistent but still makes for a very enjoyable day out.
The course is quite challenging with narrow fairways and bumps and hollows throughout the course. The water hazards also makes some of the holes very challenging. Unlike most local courses you will not find too much water here and the designers have relied on narrow fairways and cleverly placed bunkers to protect the course and you had better keep your driver in the bag on many of the holes
You have to pick your way along many of the fairways as there are many hazards cutting into the course which does not leave much margin for error. Due to the current transition you will find that the fairways and a greens need attention and some of the bunkers are inconsistent – sometimes dry and at other times waterlogged.
After a pretty easy start the course becomes increasingly difficult and steep so if you are not fit then we recommend a buggy. If you can play to your handicap on this course then you are probably playing pretty well
Emerald Golf Club has not changed much since it was built and has a small but very comfortable open-air clubhouse where you can obtain a cold beer and a good meal. Showers are locker room are adequate but don’t expect too much but at least the showers are hot. You will also find a small pro shop and a driving range. The friendly staff and excellent caddies add to the overall positive experience.
Whatever happens Emerald Golf Club is a wonderful layout which requires careful course management
